two voices poem

Columbus
Both
Morning girl
I see a girl in the water

I see strange men In a square canoe

We see a stranger

I wish to have gold and precious stones

I wish to have a sister

We wish to have something we don’t

I believe in god

I believe I can speak to spirits

we believe in a higher power

I gave the Indians red caps, glass beads and many other things of small value

I gave the visitors parrots, cotton thread, javelins, and many other things

We gave many things to the people we encountered

I taste the sea salt in the air

I taste the milk of a fresh coconut

We taste the tropics

I feel that I must succeed in the mission granted to me

I feel that I must protect my family

We feel that we are needed

  1. I like the descriptions, espescaillay "we taste the tropics" this line makes you feel like you really can "taste the tropics".

  2. I really liked the part where you said we both want something we don't have...
I think that happens with everyday people today too. I mean I know it happens to me all the time!!!!!
    Good Job.
